Love Aaj Kal Movie Review: Best Romantic Movie 2020
Love Aaj Kal Movie Review: Imtiaz Ali, Now You Have Began To Tease Us
Artists – Kartik Aaryan, Sara Ali Khan, Aarushi Sharma, Randeep Hooda in a scene with Joey (Sara) tearing in the eye to Veer (Karthik) – ‘Now you are teasing me’ Would you like to say to the director. At the end of the film, one of the first questions flashes in your mind – is this film directed by Imtiaz Ali?
After films like Socha Na Tha, Jab We Met, Love Aaj Kal, Tamasha, Rockstar, it becomes a little hard to believe. Imtiaz Ali’s films have the strongest side – screenplay, acting, music, cinematography. All these aspects are weak in “Love Aaj Kal” (2020). “Love Aaj Kal” (2020), like the film of the same name in 2009, goes ahead.
This time has been taken from 1990 and 2020. The love story is different, the pair are different and their confusions are different. (Love Aaj Kal Movie Review)
Veer ( Kartik Aaryan) and Joi (Sara Ali Khan) are attracted to each other at first sight. Both grow nearby. But while love for Veer is a beautiful feeling, Joi wants to move forward by measuring her career and love. He has a plan for 5 years to come.
He has to take his event management company to a point and then go into a serious relationship. He has heard his mother say that career is the most important, only you support yourself in life, and no one else. This is the love story of 2020.
A second love story runs parallel to it – Raghu (Karthik) and Leena (Aarushi), dating back to the 1990s. There is a close love between the two here. Both families want to support each other by putting careers at stake.
Both stories collide at a time and affect the characters emotionally. Can Raghu- Leena and Veer-Joi get along with each other? The whole story revolves around this.
Karthik Aryan, in the roles of Raghu and Veer, has tried to give his best emotionally. But his best was not enough for this character. Sara Ali Khan has looked very beautiful but is completely immature in her character. His over-acting in emotional scenes seems a bit boring.
In a scene when Joi emotionally breaks down in front of Veer’s parents and talks about staying away from Veer .. Sara Ali Khan had a great chance to show her acting ability, but she was weak. The strong sides of the film are Randeep Hooda and Aarushi Sharma.
Both of these actors have gained attention by doing short scenes and have done full justice to their character. Fitting Randeep Hooda in Rishi Kapoor’s character has been the best decision for this film by Imtiaz Ali.
Imtiaz Ali’s love stories have a different fan following. His stories directly touch the heart. But he missed out on ‘Love Aaj Kal’ (2020). Far from touching the heart, this story could not even reach the mind. The film’s direction is very weak.
Imtiaz Ali’s impression is not seen anywhere in the film except for a few scenes. What he wants to say through his story can be understood. But why he is trying to say it is a Yaksha question.
He has created complex characters in his films before, but there was a logic behind his thinking. No character has been improved, nor is any outline given here. Everyone is confused and after a few scenes confuse you too.
The screenplay of the film is also written by Imtiaz Ali. Therefore, the poor script results in a poor direction. While the dialogues of Imtiaz Ali’s previous films are still remembered by young people, the dialogues of ‘Love Aaj Kal’ (2020) are beheading. (Love Aaj Kal Movie Review)

Amit Roy’s cinematography has been good in parts, but not effective. Some of Salman Khan’s ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’ songs have been fitted to show the 90s, while Aamir Khan’s ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’. But the set design does not look reliable. At the same time, the editing done by Aarti Bajaj has tried to save the film to a great extent.
The music of the film is given by Pritam and written by Irshad Kamil, which is average. ‘Maybe’ and ‘Yes I am wrong’ have been discussed in Arijit Singh’s voice, but do not add life to the film’s story.
Just say that after watching the film, no song stays in your heart and mind.
See or not see
Directed by Imtiaz Ali, ‘Love Aaj Kal’ (2020) is a weak film in every aspect. It is better to revisit the 2009 Love Aaj Kal on the occasion of Valentine’s Day. Love Aaj Kal 3 stars from Filmbeast. (Love Aaj Kal Movie Review)
